The Last Thing

What was the last thing that made you laugh Was it a joke, or An echo from the past Did you only grin, but giggle deep inside? Did you laugh out loud, and show a smile so wide What was the last thing The last thing The last thing What was the last thing that made you laugh What was the first thing that gave you hope A song at midnight A hand for you to hold Did it strike a spark, when all your world was dark Did it whisper love, to your quiet heart What was the first thing the first thing the first thing What was the first thing that gave you hope What will be the next thing you will dream A simple summer day, or Some imagined scene Will it arrive when you least expect Will it gently move you beyond regret What will be the next thing the next thing the next thing What will be the next thing you will dream What is the last thing, what is the first thing, what is the next thing You will dream?
