Rivers and Roads

Is the river kinder than the road? The water’s gentle flow The mystery of the shore Are boulders found downstream? Will the current bring you home? Is the river kinder than the road? Kinder than the road Is the open road a long lost friend Who knows the way to go You follow fast or slow Will the shoulder be there when A turn comes you don’t know Is the river kinder than the road? Kinder than the road Do rivers carry without care? Do roads keep their secrets? Do the waters know your name? Do highways cloak your sins? When you travel, will you know? Is the river kinder than the road Kinder than the road My heart is on the river My shadow on the road Where am I to go? Is the river kinder than the road? Kinder than the road
